Baker is somewhat improved im-proved after a considerable spell of sickness. Homer Jensen of Emery is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Wickman. Horace H. Larsen has been confined to his bead with inflammatory rheumatism rheu-matism a part of the past week. The scarlet fever scare has just a-bout a-bout subsided now, there being but a few cases in town at this writing. Mrs. David S. Williams entertained the members of the Bay View Reading club at her home last Wednesday afternoon. aft-ernoon. Mrs. Emery Larsen was hurriedly taken to a Salt Lake hospital last Thursday, Th-ursday, folowed immediately by Dr. Graham. She will undergo an operation opera-tion today. N. C. Larson, one of Ferron's happy farmers, was in the county capital on business the middle of the week. Incidentally, In-cidentally, he called at the Progress office to see how much we owed him, as he puts it. The Ferron district school teachers visited the grades of the local school yesterday. The following composed the party: Messrs. Clell Pettey and Rus-sel Rus-sel Williams, and Misses Rasmussen, Nelson, Lemon, and Iy and Adrian Petersen. H. Larsen returned this week from Salt Lake and Provo where she visited with her husband and sons. The bishop is doing service as Juryman Jury-man n the federal court in Salt Lake while the boys, Glen and Lyman are attending the B. Y. U. at Provo. The board of county commissioners have postponed their regular meeting, day, to Thursday, the 8th, to permit of which should have been held Mon-Chairmans Mon-Chairmans Gillispie's attendance at J road and tax conventions to be held at Salt Lake next Monday and Tuesday, respectively. The Young prohibition bill, with the state commissioner feature elminated I by the senate and concurred n by the I lower house, has likely 'been signed by I now, as Governor Bamberger had ex- I pressed his satisfaction with it the mo- ment the commissioner feature was j put to sleep. Williams spent last Saturday and Sunday with his family the first time home since the legislature convened. He is authority au-thority for the statement that the Salt Lake daily papers may be accepted in part as far as the news of the legislative legislat-ive session, though at times they are woefully adrift on some things. He expresed a keen interest in the condition condi-tion of the feeble-minded in this state and we note that since his return he has introduced a measure to establish colonies for those afflicted a most commendable undertaking. The basketbal finals for district No. I 2 in the stake M. I. A. basketball tour-! tour-! nament were played off last night at ! Academy hall, Castledale and Orange-ville, Orange-ville, the only wards contending in this district, taking part. "The dope" as to the outcome of the games was completely com-pletely reversed, as the Orangeville Seniors got away with that game by a score of 17 to 15, while the Castledale Juniors got that game to the tune of 19 to 11. Hallie Cox, one of the youngest young-est players n the Orangeville team, I played a star game from beginning to I end in the senir game, while Harold I Jameson made a truly wonedrful showing for Castledale in the junior game.
