MOHRLAND The Christmas season was especially happy at Mohrland this year.a series of entertainments lasting over a period of four day?, having been arranged by a special committee from the Mohrland Amusement Club. The Castle Valley Coal company and itofficials were very generous contributors to the funds placed at the disposal of the Committee. All of the entertainment provided was free except the dance on Saturday night. Wednesday evening the school children child-ren of Mohrland gave a very creditable and enjoyable entertainment at the Amusement hall and a very large crowd was in attendance. Thursday afternoon there was a mati-nse mati-nse for the benefit of the children and all those who would not be able to attend at-tend an evening performa-ice. In the evening the Kinr Koal Komedy Kom-pany Kom-pany presented at the Amusement hall a very clever comedy drama, "The Country Store." The comp my, though an amateur organization, has some exceptionally ex-ceptionally good talent and the successful success-ful presentation-of this piece was a matter of wide comment and many complimentary expressions. Friday afternoon the children all assembled as-sembled at the Amusement hall and Santa Claus held forth in full regalia. Every chil l in Mohrland under sixteen years of age was the recipient of a handsome present, selected with great care by the committee in charge. Music for the occasion was furnished by the King Koal military band. Friday night a grand ball was given at the amusement hall. A number of special musical selections, songs, and speeches were given. Music for dancing danc-ing Mas furnished Dv the King Koal orchestra of eleven pieces. The ladies of Mohrland provided a very fine lunch which was served at eleven o'clock. On Saturday night the Kir g Koal orchestra gave a special dance and there was a very large attendance, a special train being run from Black Hawk and Hiawatha, ORANGEVILLE Dall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Luke, is. suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia. The lad is an attendant at the Emery Stake academy and on Christmas attended a dance at Ferron returning in a very sick condition. Mr. and Mrs. Devere Chills of Loa are visiting with Mr. Childs' parents and other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Fox lost a child last Wednesday, the httle one falling a victim to pneumonia. |
