ORANGEVILLE Memorial Day was ushered in with a general cleaning us of the cemetery in the forenoon and in the afternoon the people assembled at the grounds and decorated the graves of their loved ones. The Ladies Aid Club had been working making flowers for a couple of weeks past and had make sufficient to putf one flower and a bunch of green leaves on each grave in the cemetery, and at about 2 p. m. they, under their efficient head, distributed them on each grave After the decorating was conleted it gave the grounds a very lively and fresh appearance. The grave of our late civil war veteran, Fred W. Fail, was profusely pro-fusely covered with flowers as the others were and in addition the starry banner was stretched over his bier. We would suggest that the next good work that the Aid Club takes on hand would be the piping of water from some point of the Western canal so that trees and lawn can be started to take the place of the sage brush and a sexton appointed to take charge of its properly. Wm. Mann and wife had an increase in the family a few days ago and all are doing well. Even the father is able to hold the spraying pole steadier since his trying ordeal is over. We see quite an improvement in our cemetery lately. The people are taking more interest in the beautifying of their lots, putting up monuments and surrounding sur-rounding them with sightly fences which is all very commendable. The water is piped so that lawn can be sown. It will make a beautiful place for the repose re-pose of or loved ones. Several new residences are to be started in the next few days. S. W. Snow is putting the cement foundation for a modern bungalow and some others have just got their cement to follow suit in the near future. xhe horse buyers were here the first of the week and took seven of our best horses to help prolong the war in 'Europe and to make targets if.
