Show PUBLIC INVITED TO CAPITOL OPENING GOVERNOR ANI CAPITOL COMMISSION COM-MISSION DESIRE ATTENDANCE OF PEOPLE ON OCT. OTH. General invitation to the public to attend the formal opening of the Utah state Capitol Monday, October 9th, was issued this week by Gov. Wm. Spry as president of the state Capitol commission and C. S. Tingey as secretary secre-tary of the commission. It is announced in the invitation that no formal or personal invitations will be issued to the affair and the general invitation issued by the officials offi-cials and handed over to the nows-pepers nows-pepers of the state for publication is the only invitation necessary. To suit the convenience of all, the capitol will be open to visitors both day and evening and a program will be carried out, beginning at 2 p. m., and at 8 p. m. a public reception will be held in the state reception room. The text of the invitation issued to the public follows: The new state capitol will be formally opened on Monday, October Oc-tober 9, 1916, and the capitol commmission takes this means of extending a most cordial invitation invita-tion to all the people of the state to attend and participate in the ceremonies incident to the occasion. occa-sion. It is the desire of the commission commis-sion that the people of Utah have , an opportunity to inspect the building under the most favorable circumstances, and for that reason reas-on they have arranged that the capitol be thrown open during the afternoon and evening of that day. Commencing at 2 o'clock in the afternoon an appropriate program of speeches and music will be rendered and in the evening even-ing at 8 o'clock a public reception will be held in the state reception recep-tion room. The date for the opening has been fixed with a due regard to the convenience of out-of-town people and has been set for a time when the people of the state can take advantage of the state fair and conference rates. No formal invitations will be issued, but this general invitation is extended in the hope that the people of the state will join in ' the celebration of the completion of their new home. |
