With flags flying, Salt Lake's streets i;aily decorated and the Fair grounds a mass of color and life, Utah's 3Sth annual state fair is ready for its formal for-mal opening at 10 o'clock Saturday morning of this week, September 30. That Utah has never known a creator or more attractive annual Fair is the concensus of opinion among all vim have visited the fair grounds in Halt l.ake during the past few days. Every building and every department depart-ment is filled to overflowing with the most magnificent collection of exhibits ever gathered in the state. The horticultural building with its walls banked high with lucious frits from every nook and corner of Utah; the agricultural building with its beautiful display of grains and vegetables: vegeta-bles: the manufacturers' department the merchants' building, the fish and game division, the mining building, with its representative wealth from Utah's hills, all combine to make an inspiring spectacle. Never in the history hi-story of Utah's state fairs have so many entries been made in the livestock live-stock department, and the beef cattle show will be the finest ever seen in the intermuntain west. The poultry department has the largest number of birds entered that has ever been recorded re-corded in any western state, with the exception of the poultry show at the Panama-Pacific exposiion. The railroads have granted reduced rates and an attendance of 150,000 is expected at this years fair which runs through Saturday, Oct. 7th. The most sensational amusements ever secured se-cured for a state fair will be seen in Salt Lake this year. Louis Gertson, the famous aviator, will drive his great biplane every afternoon and evening high above the fair grounds' aril loop the loop four consecutive times. Auto polo, the most sensational sensa-tional and daring sport- in the world, will be played every afternoon in front of the grand stand following the horse races. Scores of free attractions have been provided in addition to the great "midway" with its water circus, cir-cus, trained wild animal circus, dog and pony show and other attractions. |
