Show Scottish Proverbs. In Scotland there are many proverbs pro-verbs which bear a striking similarity to the proverbs of other lands. Among the best known of these are the following: fol-lowing: "A gi'en horse shouldna be looked 1' the mouth," "An inch of gude fortune is worth a faction of forecast," ''A gude cause makes a strong arm," "A green Yule makes a fat kirkyard," "A gi'en piece is soon ended," "A begun be-gun turn is half ended" and "A man's weeTor wae as he thinks himself sae." |
