Show GIRL TAKES STR1CHN1NE Love Troubles Cause Seventeen Seven-teen Year Old Girl to Take Life Miss Rowena Caldwell of Molen committed com-mitted suicide at the home of Lester Wareham on Wednesday afternoon. She was all alone in the house at the time she swallowed the half ounce of strychnine that caused her death. When the family came home later in the day she lay on the floor in a dying condition. A doctor was called but it was too late and she passed away before he could reach her bedside. That she had the thought of committing the deed in mind before the rest of the folks left the house is supposed by the fact that she did not care to go with them, although they were going to a little party to which she was also invited. No cause for the deed is known but the fact that she had had a few words with the young man with whom she kept company is supposed to have been a fancied cause. Her mother has been dead for some years and her father, Samuel Caldwell, Sr., is a superintendent superintend-ent at Bingham, so she was making her home with her consin, Mrs. Lester Wareham. She was seventeen years of a?e. The funeral will not be held until Saturday to give time for the arrival of her father from Bingham and for other relatives to come from Sunnyside. This is a very sad affair and a distinct shock to the community. These things are read of in the papers weekly, but when they come to one's own neighborhood neighbor-hood they have a very different appearance. |
