Show PIONEER ELIAS A. COX LAID TO HIS REST Funeral services for Elias H. Cox, one of the best known pioneers of E.u-e E.u-e y county, were held at the Huntington chapel Saturday. Bishop Nielson was in charge of the service. The ward choir gave several beautiful selections a 'id the floral tributes were numerous. Patriarch William Black offered the invocation and William A. Guymon pronounced the benediction. Lifelong friends of Mr. Cox paid high tribute to his life of usefulness. The speakers were Patriarch Peter Johnson of Cleveland, A. W. Horsley and A. I. Harmon of Price, D. C. Woodward, D. H. Leonard and Bishop Nielson of Huntington. Mr. Cox was born at Union, Salt Lake county, December 19, 1856. While a young man he went to Castle valley and was one of the first five men to pioneer the way from Sanpete county and settle on the east side of the Wasatch range. He held many positions of trust in both civil and religious re-ligious spheres. He was the first superintending of district schools of Emery county. At the time of his death he was a trustee of the Huntington Hunting-ton district. A large family su rvives. |
