Show State Treasurer Jewkes, who was again down yesterday, met with the Carbon and Emery county commissioners commis-sioners at Price, the latter going over to confer about, matters connected with the division of the appropriation. Carbon county needs a great deal of ready money for the construction of the canyon road and the proposition has been made that Emery county surrender sur-render the $10,000 which it is thought would fall to her, to Carbon, the latter turning over $5,000 secured by donation dona-tion there or otherwise, to Emery, thereby making it possible for Emery to secure the two annual state appro-prrations appro-prrations approximating $3G00 each, which would be forfeited bv participation partici-pation in the Midland appropriation. This exchange would work more ad- . yantageously for both counties, Emery getting th larger part, though having to wait another year 'for the second $-3600. The Salt Laks Commercial club has also donated the sum of $25,000 to apply ap-ply on the Trail route and this, with contributions from commercial organizations organi-zations throughout the state, shows what interest is being' taken all over the state in this broject that means so much to the whole state and will so specifically help us. Work is also being pushed on the opening of the Salina conyon route, and, from present apDearances the latter will all be in readiness to connect con-nect up with this great overland route the present season, i |
