Show FEEDING COOP FOR SQUABS Materials Necessary Consist of Hundred Hun-dred Feet of Flooring and Piece of Wire Mesh. A satisfactory coop for fattening chicks of "Leghorn squabs," as the trade calls them, is shown in the accompanying ac-companying illustration. The materials materi-als necessary consist of 100 feet of flooring, two pieces of wire netting 3V4 by 4 feet, a piece of- inch mesh wire for the front,, a feed drawer made from store boxes, a pair of hinges, door transom and some roofing paint. . The floor is covered with road dust, l Fattening Coop. writes Mrs Almo of Chaves county, N. M., in the Farmers Mail and Breeze. A dry feed mixture put up by a local feed store consits of cracked corn, mi-lo, mi-lo, wheat, bran, alfalfa meal and meat meal. Milk curd is fed twice a week. TJie feed drawer is filled twice week. I find more gain in weight by using a coop than in yards, and use less feed. I put the chicks in this coop as soon as they are old enough to take from the brooder. |
