Show TELEPHONE REMOVAL BRINGS ON BIG STORM The cutting off of all local service to the Kubsciibers of the Eastern Utah telephone company last Tuesday has resulted re-sulted in a veritable storm of disapproval disap-proval among Castl-dalj business men with the result that most of them have resolved to neither send or receive long distance messages. At the regular Commercial club meeting last Wednesday night a committee com-mittee of five was appointed to consider the matter thoroughly. These men, Messrs. C. E. Larjen, R. C. Miller, W. J. Douglass, C. T. Bowen and Dr. Claude RidJle, met the following night but could do nothing further than make arrangements to look up the matter of whether or not the company has a town toll line franchise, it being the general opinion thU they have not, putting them in an embarrassing position to fill their county contract of keeping a phone in the court house, if they lack the local franchise. It cannot be forecasted fore-casted just what will be the outcome of the matter. The toll station is located now at the residence of John Y. Jensen, with Mrs. Blanch Petty in charge, the court house being the only other party connected. Dr. Riddle has secured connection with the Orangeville Power and Milt line and is therefore in touch with a number of his patients in Orangeville. There is considerable objection also to the distant dis-tant locution of the tell station, to add to the situation. Altogether, however, the company is not without a defense, and the manager, J. Rex Miller, though j bearing the brunt of the disfavor is not to be blamed whatsoever, he obeying only the wishes of the company, which j declares the local exchange a losing proposition. |
