Show HUNTINGTON The towns of Huntington, Cleveland : and Lawrence are investing in a cojI mine. A little more than two years ! ago a party of men went into the snow-clad snow-clad mountains and spent days in locating locat-ing this claim, returned and called a meeting for the people to consider the proposition of securing this coal land. All seemingly were interested in this move and actions at once were taken to procure this coal for the benefit of all tha people in these three towns. When this mine is in running order and all indebtedness paid off, our people each and every one, will be able to buy their coal at such a low figure, that all homes can be supplied with plenty. Wm. Howard and John L. Brasher were among the conference visitors at Salt Lake. Mrs. Golda Woodward, visited here last week with relatives and friends. After Mutual meeting Tuesday evening, even-ing, the young ladies association went down to the Commercialclub hall where a dainty luncheon was served. Games and social chats were also indulged in until midnight. Mr. John Jensen has purchased a lot in the west part of town and is building build-ing a house on it. Mr. Frank Robbins is home again. The members of the Primary association associa-tion went for an Easter outing down the river laat Saturday, carrying their dinner baskets filled with nice things to eat, and a good supply of eggs colored in every hue of the rainbow. The teachers went along to chaperone this joyous, happy band. At conjoint meeting last Sunday night an excellent program was rendered. render-ed. The old program committee was released with a vote of thanks for their good woik and a new committee was appointed. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Peterson are home again. They are domiciled at the Norton home. Ranger John Brockbank is preparing to run a telephone line up Huntington canyon to the rangers cabin. It :r barley possible that this line will be continued on over the mountain into Sanpete county. The Commercial club members held a business meeting last Wednesday-evening. Wednesday-evening. Miss Kate Truman is in Helper where she expects to spend the summer and assist as clerk in one of the stores there. The ball game played last Saturday between the Academv nine and the Huntington ball team was won bv the former by a score of 14 to 6. Come over again, boys, and stay for the dance next time. |
