Foote. The young couple are well known and highly respected. On Wednesday Wed-nesday evening a big dance was given in the meeting house to which Emery turned out en masse. Many beautiful presents were received by the young couple as also many congratulations. The skating match came off yesterday afternoon as advertised ;.nd drew a tremendous tre-mendous crowd. The contestants were A. B. Willey and Fred Mathesen. The race started all right but Mathesen failed . to make good as a ncer an I could not or would not skate. Willey mad" the first five miles in about ten minutes then I stopped as he had no contestant. 1 Mathesen claimed he could not skate on I j his skates, so Willey changed with him ! 1 but as he did not make good with these ' j the race was called o!f and the people ' invited to come and get their money. No one blames Willey for the failure of the race to be as advertised for he did his part. The children which compose what is know n as the religionclass of Castledale under the supervision of their president Mrs. Hannah King, assisted by her several aids performed a notable thing on Wednesday last, when they visited all the poor and the wi lows and orphans of the Castledale ward. The visits com posed of singing and serenading and at each place they gave what help they could by chopping wood and doing chores by the boys and house work by the girls They also took with them dainties to ! please the palate of their guests. A j good time was had during the day and I the example will ever live in the hearts j of the givers and receivers. In the! evening the officers entertained the ' children in a pleasant party which con- j sisted of games and music interspersed i with picnic. J Miss Stella Seely left last Friday t visit at Provo with her brother Car ) Seely, who was injured some time ago ' and was taken to Provo to undergo ar ! operation. ' Dr. Ward of Ferron will be in Castle dale for a week beginning Thursday January 5th. He will be prepared to d all of the latest and best word and t( guarantee the same. S. S. Stevenson of Ferron has beer trapping coyotes and wild cats out tc Mill'er Creek for the past ten days. He came in Wednesday and left for Sail Lake to spend Christmas. He says he has caught as many as fiye coyotes in one night. Mr. Stevenson will continue trapping the "varmints" the rest oi the winter and will endeavor to clean them all out. News. |
