Show EMERY Funeral services were held here last Friday, Dec. 22, over the remains of Mrs. Eunice Pettey of Castledale, whose desire it was to be buried in Emery, beside be-side her husband, the lace Heber C. Pettev. Tne speakers at the funeral were Casper Christen.-en, H. C. Wick-man, Wick-man, R. Jacobsen, Peter Olsen, Peter Christerisen, S. M. Williams, J. B. Broderick and Bishop Brinkerhoff. Mi s. Brinkerhoff sang "Sister, Thou was't Mild and Lovely," and a quartet, "Bury Me Ne ir the Ol l H ne" was sung by Etta Williams, Ada Pettey, Emma Edward Ed-ward and Ethel Anderson. : Bro. A. E. Wall of the Stake Presidency Presi-dency visited the ward on Dec. 17, and held ward conference. He found all the organizations complete and in good working order. Elder Chas. L. Foote was sustained to fill the vacancy of as-i as-i distant superintendent, of Sunday School caused by, the departure " of Elder Carl S. Christmas ! program on Friday evening; Dec. 22, which was well attended and very much appreciatedby the audience. Christmas day passed off very ppace-1 fully, with fewer drunken hoodlums than ever before. The Sunday Schi ol gave a children'sdance and Santa CIhijS wa3 there with a Christmas tree loaded with oranges and presented one to each child in the house. A weigh dance was given in the evening. The Relief Society will give a party Friday evening commencing at 6 p. m. A program consisting of songs, recita-tion.8, recita-tion.8, dialogues, stump speeches and instrumental music will be first in order after which lunch will be serv-.'d, and the remainder of the evening will be spent in dancing. A wedding recption was given last Sunday afternoon at the home of H. E. Larsen in honer of their daughter Grace ' and Ho i ard R iherts. Only the immediate immedi-ate friend-;and rel itives were present. Willard Peacock, Jr., and Emma Abe-,lin; Abe-,lin; and Joseph Neilsen, Jr., and Deloa , Hansen, w ere unite 1 in wedlock last Friday evening by Bishop Brinkerhoff. i They have hosts of friends who wish them long and happy wedded lives. ; The students who have been away attending at-tending school are all at home for the holidays. , I Mr. an! Mrs. Arthur Abelin of Price ; are Emery visitors. j ! Mrs. Mary A. Maxfield has returned from the Mt.Pleasant hospital where she has been the past seven weeks. Her condition is very encouraging and it is believed she will soon feel well and stro.ig again. , Milton Olsen has also returned from the Prov i hospital feeling very well, , considering the length of time since he was operated upon. Clement Johnson and wife, who have been living on the Sevier river nearly a year, are home for a month's vacation. Dave and trven Willia n-i ware called to Salt Lake City to the bedside of their mother, Mrs. Stena Williams, who went there to spen I the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Jno. E Iwards. |
