Show STANDARD OIL RIG IN SAN RAFAEL After eight months of engineering work in the San Rafael oil field some thirty miles west of Green River, a rig has been put in at this district. According Ac-cording to word received from Green River the rig arrived Wednesday of the last week, consigned to Col. Charles ; P. Tasker, agent. As to just where I the rig was going it is declared that Colonel Tasker was unwilling to say. Shortly after the drill arrived the j work of hauling it to the new field was started, and it is declared that it will1 require but a few days more to have it i fnlly set up. This is the second standard stan-dard rig to arrive in Utah for developing develop-ing the eastern part of the state. The only other rig in the eartern section of the country is at the Galloway wells in i San Juan county. It is understood that a wagon road has been built into the old field from Green Rver and that this .summer then-will then-will be several more put in to thoroughly thorough-ly prospect the field. It is declared thai the hills to the west of the field are so tilled that five sand3 are plainly plain-ly shown in the canyons. The same formatious have also been tilled up on the eaft and north sides of the field so that the oil has been confined in a huge basin. From the Green river, running toward the San Rafael rive it is declared there is a gradual anticline of about four feet to the mile. According .o geologists geolo-gists who have visited the field the oil pools Wo-.ild have been greatly drained f it were noi for the hard lime capping capp-ing that cover3 the field. At no place have thev been able find a break in the formation. On account of geological conditions it is declared that the field should pro-dues pro-dues gushers as all the elements necessary neces-sary are there. Besids that the oil should be secured at a depth of less : than two thousand feet. |
