KILLPACK, Ferron v Attorney y A. D. DICKSON," Castledale : Assessor ADOLPH AXELSON, Elmo Surveyor ROBT. WOODRUFF, Green River , Superintendent of Schools EVELYN LOWRY, Ferron - With the holding of the County Re publican contention last Monday, the ; last remaining ticket to be placed in the Held has been made up and there is only the month's campaign and election , day itself before we will know who is to steer the ship of Emery through the next two years of official life. Clawson and Lawrence were the single sin-gle precincts not represented at the cony ntion, though Woodside was only represented by proxy. The morning session was devoted to the appointment of committees, etc., and at 1 o'clock the delegates reassembled reassem-bled for the transaction of the particular par-ticular business in hand. T. S. Turner and Evelyn Lowry served as temprar, chairman and secretary sec-retary respectively at the morning session, while Antone Nielson and Edw. P. Cox-acted in the same capacity at the afternoon session. The committees on order of business and credentials having reported and the reports being accepted, the report of the committee on platform and reso- j lutions was read and the question was i about to be put by Chairman Nielson i when U. E. Curtis rose to offer remarks, re-marks, opportunity for this proceeding having been passed up. Mr. Curtis expressed ex-pressed himself as desirous of having a prohibition plank inserted in the plat-form-that Utah couldn't afford to be alone against prohibition among her sister mountain states,; that we had passed the childhood age of local option and now demand a mature stand on the question. It is absolutely neces sary, too, Mr. Curtis argued, that something be done to vindicate the Republican Re-publican party in the eyes of the people on this subject, inasmuch as James H. Moyle, in his recent talks in the different differ-ent towns of the county, openly makes the assertion that the republican party , is in league with the liquor interests. Various delegates bpoke on the subject, sub-ject, opposition to the insertion of the plank being based on the absence of anything bearing on the subject in the state platform. The motion to amend the platform to include this plank was voted down. The original motion was again put and carried and then Curtis tame back with additions to his pre- j vious remarks and made a motion that j the platform be reconsidered, which j motion carried with but two or three j negative votes. The plank was then j added and the platform," as amended,! . accepted unanimously. j With thi matter cleared up, the reg- ; ular proceedings were continued. , j For 4-year commissioner, U. E. Curtis presented the name of S. P. I snw Jr., of Orangeville and L. W. ! Peterson presented the name of A. W. : Anderson of Emery. W. 1 Anderson, who was defeated for the 4- year term, and the nomination was ! carried by acclamation. 1 The only other contest developed in ' the clerkship nomination. A. B. Wiley of Castledale was placed in nomination i by A. L). Dickson and T. S. Turner, in behalf of Green River, offered the name of C. T. Bowen, who is now erving his second term as clerk. The voting by delegation resulted 15 to 24 in favor of Bowen. Bowen secured the entire vote of the Green River, Woodside, Cleveland, Huntington, and Ferron delegations, while Willey secured se-cured the votes of the Elmo, Mohrland, Clawson, and Castledale delegations. Orangeville gave- Willey 2 votes and Bowen 3 votes, while Emery split her vote even 3 for Willey and 3 for Bowen The result was rather a surprise to Willey and his friends, as it was generally gen-erally conceded that he would secure the nomination. He was plainly very disappointed over the outcome, but readily made a motion that Bowen's nomination be declared unanimous. For treasurer, Commissioner Peter Nielson pres- nted the name of Wm.
