Show CASTLEDALE TCWN DADS REJECT ALL PROPOSITIONS At the scheduled m .'eting of the town boarc. held last Saturday night, attended by several of the townspeople, the bids for both the bonds and insallation of the system were all turned down. There was but two bids in for the construction work and one of these was thrown out before reading the Lyman bid on account of tile certified check enclosed being declared by the bidder who was present to lie insufficient if the full ; per cent were demanded. Upon opening the Lyman bid, it was found that the latter was in the same fix --too small a check, so that it was finally decided to reject all bids, though considerable inlluenee was brought to bear in an eirort to make the Lyman hi I the choice. The latter bid was something in excess ex-cess of $17, OdO, though the same included in-cluded a full supply of half-inch pipe and hydrants for every signed-up p-o-spective user, which would have brought the bid for the system proper down considerable as the town would be reimbursed re-imbursed for this additional material as the same was sold to the nser3. The other bid is suppose 1 to have been con siderable high i . The bonus bid-, were all declared unaccepted un-accepted as none ..ere ..o.hin reasonable reason-able figures, and negoa inons are now going on to see what can best be done about the selling of the latter. If ihey cannot be disp sed of to proper alvan-tage alvan-tage Just now then nure time will be. taken. That they can be s A 1, and at par or over is t tie conviction of everyone acquainted with the matter. The main contention seem i to be th it the bonds are not made, to call for enough interest, the same being but 5 per cefct; but as far as this is concerned, there are town, school district, and county bonds drawing from 4 to 5 per cent being greedily taken up in other parts of the state and our? will no doubt be sought after before very long. In Payson, where a water works system is being installed, the contractors bidding for the wo: k were only too willing to take their 54 per cent bonds at par, as payment for tiie work, and also give some pretty substantial premiums. Lyman md Samuels were bidding there, loo, but they didn'c get the work by a long shot, they asking seven per cent for legal foes instead of giving a premium! pre-mium! The town can wait awhile for the waterwsrks if it is to its advantage to do so, and the present stand of the board is being well received, and it is hoped they will continue to keep iheir "eyes wue open.
