A, Jones Asks For Ninety Days He States That the Utilities -- Construction Co. Will Not "Act Without Subscribers; Commission in Salt Lake. O The city commissioners received an invitation last night from J. A. Jones, the promoter of the gas plant for this city, to go to Salt Lake and there make an inspection of the Utah Gas and Coke Companys plant as it is now Mr.'TJones has recently returned from Pocatello, Idaho, where he Las been looking after the gas - companys interests. While there he learned that the Utilities Company of Canton, Ohio, would not build a gas plant in this city unless the fiir hundred people took one shore of stock each and became subscribers to the plant. This condition has thrown the gas plant question in the air and Jones, in order to save his franchise, has asked for an extension of ninety days, at which time the commissioners can either cancel the franchise or give him further time If' the outlook for the plant is good enough to warrant it. After hearing from Mr. Jones, the commissioners decided to go to Salt Lake to investigate gas conditions there, in order to be fully informed before taking action upon Mr. Jones request.
