N'.t Ms: C T 1 y- - 1 , FAGL S West Valley approves $9.75 million bond Annette Sadler awaits hearing Dec. 8 By DAN E and BETH NOYCE Times Correspondents SALT LAKE CITY A pre-trihearing is scheduled Dec. 8 for Annette Sadler who is charged with the shooting of Dr. Jerry K. Poulsen. Sadler, 20, of 2976 S. 8560 W was arraigned Wednesday, Nov. 4 in Fifth Circuit Court. She was charged with ate murder, tempted aggravated kidnapping and auto theft. She is currently undergoing psychiatric tests to determine if she is mentally fit to stand trial on the charges. Poulsen, 41, was found Oct. 31 about a mile and a half up Butterfield Canyon tied to a tree with a gunshot first-degre- serious condition at Holy Cross Hospital Monday night, was born in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School and has been a member of the American Medical Association since 1967. He married Jerri Lynn Quigley, of Hunter, on April 26, 1975 in Reno, Nev. They had one son, Aaron, and were divorced on Aug. 24, 1981. Poulsen practices at a medical clinic at 3672 S. Redwood Road. Detectives were hoping to talk to Poulsen Tuesday about the shooting. Beckstead told the West Mountain Times, investigators have no evidence that Sadler and Poulsen were acquainted prior to the incident. wound in his back. The refinery, to be built on 4600 West 2100 South, will extract gold and silver from ores, as well as purify the precious metals from alloys. William former Dawson, Congressman, lawyer and banker, died Saturday in a local hospital of an illness incident to age. He was 78. Dawson was elected to Congress in 1946, 1952, 1954 and 1956 from Utahs Second District. During his years in Congress, Rep. Dawson sponsored bills to provide for multiple mineral development of the public domain; to permit public schools to gain title to and revenue from public lands; increase appropriations to complete federal land surveys in Utah; and the bill to authorize the SI billion Upper Colorado River Storage Project. While in Congress he served on the House Interior Committee and was named to the Republican Policy Comon a special mittee. He also committee to investigate lead-zin- c mining needs and served as a member of a committee on coal research and on water resources. Before his election to Congress, Rep. Dawson was prominent in civic and political affairs in Davis County. After graduating from the University of Utah College of Law in 1926, he served as Davis County Attorney in 1926, 1932 and 1934. His outstanding legal battle as county attorney was in 1927 and 1928, when he lead the fight against parimutuel horse race betting in the county. From 1934 to 1940, he served two terms as mayor of Layton. During those years he was president of the town board of Layton, president of the Davis County Bar Association, Republican county chairman and bishop of the Layton LDS Ward. In 1940, he was elected state senator from Davis County and served four years. After being elected to U.S. Congress in 1946, Rep. Dawson lost his bid for a second consecutive term in 1948 to Reva B. Bosone. He was to Congress in 1952 and 1954, defeating Mrs. Bosone both times. In 1956 he won over Oscar McConkie and was defeated in the 1958 election to David King, ending his congressional career. After returning to Utah in 1959, he was appointed president of the Bank of Kearns which later merged with Zions First National Bank in 1962. Rep. Dawson was also involved with the Layton Kiwanis Club, serving as president; he was a member of the North Davis Stake high council, the MIA stake presidency and chairman of the Committee to Save Salt Lake City Buses. He was born Nov. 5, 1903, in Layton, to William Alexander and Ella Rose Adams Dawson. He married Gladys Norton in 1927 in the Salt Lake Temple. His survivors include his wife, daughters, Mrs. Waldo C. (Diane) Perkins, Sait Lake City; Mrs. Clifton A. From 1976 to 1980, he operated his own advertising agency, Randall Green & Associates, which specialized in print media advertising. As a freelance writerphotographer.
