The Chamberlains were married August 17, 1944 in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Deanie was born in Fremont Nebraska, where she received her formal schooling, and was working for the Bureau of Internal Revenue Service in Hawaii when she met Al. Al was born in Summit, Utah. He joined the Army, received his commisbion as a 2nd Lt. in the Artillery, and wab on leave when he met Deanie in Hawaii. Al served his country in World War II in the South Pacific as an Artillery Spotter Pilot and was heavily involved in the initial invasion of the Phillipines. After the war, Al stayed in the Army and worked in com- bat transportation develop- ment. He always kept up with his love offlyingand eventually obtained his helicopter pilots license. The couple retired from Army life in Virginia in 1 9B2 ami Al went to work for McDonnell Douglab in Southern California. He retired fiom there in 1 97b. Since that time they hae spent their summers in southern Utah and w inters in Hemet, California w here Deanie spends much of her time invoked with volunteer hospital work. They were honored at a party given by their children, Norman Kerr, Jane Clayton, Linda Felgar and Mary Michel oq July 30 in Ojai, California.
