(Nita) Aiken and Mrs. Lester (Madge) Little of Kanab participated in a General Federation of Womens Clubs leadership Mobilization Seminar held at the University of Utah, October 18 and 19, under the auspices of the Sears Roebuck Foundation as a part of a nation-wid- e community improvement program. The Conference included G. F.W.C. representatives from nine states. The program was implemented by the Bureau of Community Development, University of Utah, Dr. Edward O. Moe, Director. Participating were the following from the University: Dr. Henry H. Frost, Jr, Dr. J. Weldon R.Moffitt. Keith Landa; from Wilson, and Esther Brigham Young University, Dr. Reed H. Bradford, and Dr. Joseph N. Symons; and from Utah State University, Dr. Marden Broad bent. Dr. Steven L. Brower, and Dr, R. Welling Roskelly. Community Action Over fifty official delegates and ranks with the top hospitals in some 20 unofficial observers rethe nation. The patients were ceived training in indentifying and moved from the old to the new establishing priorities among community problems, approaches to hospital Tuesday. problem solving in rural and urban areas; and organization techniques for community action. Because of local conditions, Kane Countys Civil Defense Plan varies slightly from the National Plan. These conditions give us some advantage in planning survival procedures. The main advantage being a probable, though limited time factor. These variations, however, are important, so please keep this article available for immediate reference.
