J. BEAN On Tuesday of this week a delegation from Kanab went to Panguitch for a meeting sponsored by the 89ers Association, and a luncheon at the Bryce Canyon Cafe. Those attending from Kanab were Dell Robinson, President of Cliffs 89ers the Vermillion (thats our local. Assoc. No. 2), Lloyd Pugh. Whit Parry, Peaches Beard, and Arland Brooksby of Fredonia. Also in attendance were 89ers of Panguitch, Richfield, Salma and the Lions Club of Scipio. Purpose of jhe meeting was to promote tourist traffic in this area by the use of signs at strategic Junctions on the national highways. These signs would be of the bulletin size and would be placed at the Levan Junction of highways 89 and 91; at Washington at the Hurricane junction and at the Junction of Highways 66 and 89 Just east of Flagstaff in Arizona. These signs were definitely planned lor and will be up in time to do this area some good this season. Also discussed was the project of promoting the completion of Highway 24, which now deadends at Grand Junction, Colorado, through into Utah via Price, Saiina Canyon, Richfield and Bear Valley Junction and into Nevada. This highway, completed would be the shortest and most scenic highway beginning in Montreal, Canada, and continuing to the Pacific Coast Its completion would divert many tourists into this area. The meeting instituted a series of letters and petitions to be drawn up, under the direction of Peaches Beard, President of the Kanab Lions, which will be used to influence decisions at a meeting In Phoenix Arizona on the 19th of April.
