The awards will be presented in a number of areas including College Scholar Awards to students &om SUU's colleges who have the highest grade point average, proven excellence as scholars and who are members of the graduating class. Outstanding Student Awards are departmental awards that are presented to students who have demonstrated ruperior acholarship and potential in a particular academic discipline. Students rereiving the awards are electEd by department f.lculties. This year's valedictorian and salutatorian will be honored at the cemnony. The valedictorian, Rid Roberts from St George, will be the speaur for the June 5 commencement exercises, while salutatorian, David Blodgett from Cedar City, will speak at the baccalaureate services June 4. Special awards are also presented at the Convocation, including Pestaloz:zi Awards to graduating seniors in both elementary and secondary education and the CPA Key Award, presented by the Utah AMociation of CPAs to the graduate considered to have the most potential for success as a CPA. ' , Other awards include the KPMG Peat Marwick Scholastic Award for accounting majors; the Alpha Chi Award for the outstanding first-year scholar and th.e Non-Traditional Academic Award, presented to a student outside the typical 18-22 age range of college and university students.
