As the relay of information between Lord and the stu.dent body, Judd also writes speeches for her, and wn tes letters of congratulation to members of the student body. Judd attends SUU full-rime in addition to his duties of directing SUUSA relations. Lord explained how Judd manages to balance his schoolwork along with his directing duties. According to Lord, ''he has the ability to take on a variety of work without overcrowding himself.'' Growing up in Colorado Springs, Col., and with his father in the Air Force, Judd lived in many different cities while he was growing up. From this expe.r ience, he says, he learned how to accept people of all different types. He currently seeks a Spanish major and a minor in math. After graduating with a baccalaureate degree, he plans to earn a master's degree in Environmental Engineering. Judd explained how he first began seeking his position. " I was helping J eremy with the Voice campaign. I got a bird's eye view of what the student body was doing. I became interested. I wanted to get involved." Susan O'Connor, community coordinator of the Salt Lake Area Gang Project, will address the troubling issue of youth gangs during Thursday's 11 a.m. Convocation. O'Connor's topic will be "Utah Gangs: Not Your Average Cultural Youth Group." O 'Connor has received training in gang awareness and diversion from the Conupunity Reclamation - Project, Community Youth Gang Services and the San Bernardino County Sherifrs Office. O ' Connor's topic addresses a growing problem in Utah. In 1990, the Salt Lalie City Police Department identified 890 youths as gang members. That number has risen to 1,207. To illustrate her lecture, O'Connor will show examples of gang weapons and clothing.
