Sluga has been one of the most successful high school basketball coaches ever in the State of Utah. He has coached at Bingham High School for 36 years, including 31 years has head coach. He has won nearly 500 games and six state championships with an additional championship while a student at Bingham. Sluga has coached more than 70 allState players who went on to play collegiate sports, including two athletes who continued to play professionally, Bruce Hardy of the NFL and Fred Roberts of the NBA. He was named Coach of the Year 20 times in his career and was nominated in 1978 for the National High School Coach of the Year for region seven. The Utah Summer Games is a non-profit athletic foundation based in Cedar City, which operates on registration fees and donations from corporate sponsors including our Gold Medal partners Delta Air Lines, First Security Bank, lntermountain Health Care, and KUTV2. The first weekend of this year's Games features soccer, the largest sport in the USG with 2,500 athletes. Over the next 11 days, more than 7,000 athletes are expected to participate in 34 events. One of 46 other organizations affiliated with the National Congress of State Games, the Utah Summer Games is open to Utah residents of all ages and skill levels. Of Thursday night's extravanganza. Bryan Dangerfield, USG executive director, said, "We've raised the intensity of the show and lowered the ticket prices slightly so that more family members can attend.
