However, through the generosity of Jack and Jackie Sawyers at Fiddlers Theatres, we are able to bring these here." The Wedding Banquet (rated R) is the story of Wai Tung, a gay Manhattan yuppie whose parents want him to marry a nice Chinese girl; thus, against his better judgement, he enters into a marriage of convenience. The movie's busy being "gentle" and "wise," yet ends up having a bite and is full of wonderful characters who you will instantly love. Snapper !rated R) is according to the Salt Lake Tribune, "a comedy from Ireland that's so lovable, you'll want to cuddle up with it, take it out for drinks and bring it home to meet the famil/" In Irish slang, a "snapper" is a baby-which is what 20-year-old Shannon Curley is soon going to have. It takes a lot to get the family's attention in this noisy Dublin household, but that news does the trick. Belle Epoque is the winner of the 1994 'Academy award for Best Foreign Film. This tale of a young army bugler named Fernando who deserts his decim~ted regiment fdr the pastoral countryside is: unabashedly ril!>ald and equally humane. This is a sensuous and witty tale of passion, politics and a tenuous paradise. Farewell My Concubine !rated R) is vastly entertaining. One of those rare film spectacles that deliver just about everything-action, history, exotic colorall intimately rooted in a love story of vicious intensity. Winner of Best Film at Cannes Film Festival 1993, it was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film 1994. Orlando !rated PG-13) is director Sally Potter's adaption of a Virginia Woolf novel and highlights an Elizabethan Lord who lives thrdugh 400 years of British history, much of it as a woman.
