Show tribute to Santa Claus A Miners ville, winner of the Salt Lake Tribune Tidy Town award in 1983 again led Beaver County entrants in the Salt Lake Tribune Beautification contest. But Milford made a big move and hopes to make a run for the Tidy Town award in 1986, accord ing to Gladys Whittaker, member of the Milford Beautification Commit- tee. Phyllis and Karl Trumans beautiful yard was featured with a picture in the Tribune contest, and in all Minersville had 12 first place winners, and 12 second place winners. Five others who were winners in last years contest received recognition for continuous improvement. Milford had six first place winners and four second place winners. Mike and Debbie Skinner of received a special award, and Mr. and Mrs. Gib Yardley and Ren and Yvonne Moss, both of Beaver, received first place. Minersville were: winners David and Vicki Dutson, Michael and Nalani Gillins, Stanley and Suzanne Dalton, Connie and Vance Mar Man-derfie- shall, Clark and Mary Gillins, Fay and Betty Marshall, Clarence Gillins, Wayne Gillins, RossMarshall, Ron and Sheila Brink-maDean and Karen Thomas, Gladys Whittaker, Gene and Barbara Mayer, Ted Bernard, first place; Fuss and Marie Brinkman, Sheldon Albrecht, Bud and Connie Barnes, Evan and Pat Lister all second place. The untimely death of Alden Johnson deprives us of our very own Santa Claus, but how fortunate we all were that he touched our lives, for ills generous giving of himself and his many talents enriched the lives of all of us. And thus we pay tribute to him, knowing that we have lost our Santa Claus but that we have not lost and will always cherish the spirit of Christmas which Alden Johnson embodied. their records. Alison Lowe , Sharon Roberts and Melinda Roberts were recog- nized at the State H Contests for their dedication and accomplishments in Alison has won a trip to the Congress in Chicago for her project work in Photography. She will join approximately 30 other youth on the all expense paid trip in late November. She is sponsored by Kodak. Sharon and Melinda have won the priviledge of competing in a sectional contest for trips to Congress. If they win, they will join Alison to Chicago. Melinda also won a trip to Denver Jr. Livestock Exposition in October. Melinda Roberts and Susan Roberts were placed in the blue ribbon class of 12 girls from a group of 35 participants.
