The Jordan River Parkway would directly affect residents on the westside, so there is certainly the need for representation from the westside to assist and oversee the planning and construction of the Parkway. Richard Carmen, Chairman of the Westside Council, stated that housing is also very much a concern with his council. The feeling of most council members is to avoid centralization of e housing on the westside. Carmen stated, "We are e certainly in favor of low-incom- low-incom- housing, but we want to see it equally distributed throughout the city. If it becomes centralized, people tend to avoid moving in these areas and will choose the suburbs instead." The council is currently planning to receive $11,500 in funds from Model Cities which would be used for the completion of projects through the council.
