IJVfr'nfitr1aa,Ji.r,i rr" Chicano Advisor Named The University of Utah Institutional Council has approved the appointment of Solomon J. Chacon as Advisor to Chicano students, effective August 21. Chacon replaces Michael G. Melendez who resigned to attend the U. medical school. The Chicanos represent the largest minority student group on campus. Last year 350 students were enrolled at the U, and nearly 450 are exptected this year. Chacon will provide academic and personal counseling to Chicano students, from recruitment to admissions and on through college course work. He will also serve as advisor to the Chicano student organization on campus. The new advisor 1972 political science graduate of the U. He has been employed with is a Project Head Start and as recreational supervisor with the Community Action Program in Salt Lake City. m Chacon has extensive experience working with the Chicano community.
