Show with obsolete skills, a substantial portion of the long-ter- m unemployed; widows with little or no work experience forced to return to the job market; men who suddenly become unemployed and have no idea of and how to go about retirees in need of part-tim- e employment to supplement their job-huntin- g; retirement incomes. Many individual require counseling and job development services, as well as group services to guide and motivate their search for a new job. VOLUNTEERSERVICE Volunteer Service is a source of great satisfaction to older people and increasing opportunities are being created for such work. Volunteer work serves a double purpose - it restores to older people some of the values and satisfactions of a former job, and it makes available an abundance of their talents and skills to supplement the often inadeqate staffs of community agencies. WHAT MODELCITIES PROGRAM ABOUT SALT LAKE COUNTY? There are many opportunities for involvement the Model in Cities program, in identifying problems, planning projects and programs and evaluatingthemonce they are established. Many projects aimed at helping senior citizens have been developed out of the Model Cities program. Health care programs, transportation projects, low cost housing for the elderly are just a few of the areas covered by the task forces. Meetinas Services and opportunities in the Salt Lake County have greatly increased over the last few years.
