I wish they had a yardage store. A lot of times you have to run a long way. A J. C. Penney would be nice for the corner. That would take care of the fabrics. I think theroad and parking is just fine. Mrs. Ralph Reynold 4974 Cottonwood Lane housewife I think they should make a unified effort. If they made the shops look alike and had a theme it would be much more attractive. I think they could definitely expand a little. I think childrens clothing is difficult to find 'here. Ive practically stopped shopping here and drifted down to the Mall. A nice restaurant would do well here. Letters To The Editor- - Reader Defines Problem: Undirected Transition stationery store from Granger to Sugarhouse. . OPINION PLEASE Dear Sir; I store. Mr. Karl Richter 4699 Holladay Boulevard Chamber of Commerce I think theres quite a few things. A smile from some of the propietors is one thing. Cleaning up is another. The Chamber of Commerce should do something. The county does very little. Theres quite a list , of things we need. A storm drain is one thing. We dont even have a good gutter. We need a department store real bad, as much as anything. A stationery store is another. There isnt a good complete Mr. E. Ive chosen to write out my answers to last weeks questlonaire beI have too cause, woman-likmuch to say! Holladay Villages greatest problem Is that it is in a state of undirected transition. More and more population is arriving in this area and the demands for goods and services will be correspondingly great. Without proper planning, the shopping district will sprout a crop of every kind of building, every kind of parking problem and mass confusion. We have every potential; consumers, interesting and intelligent merchants and a beautiful geographic site. Now what we need is a really imaginative, thoughtful plan! I dont think this is possible without the services of a good city planner. I cannot imagine what the fee would be or how we could Im sure raise the money--bthis is a first and most vital e, se businessman Get Cottonwood Mall here. what they need. They turned it down once. This will set the Village atmosphere and will be our trademark (as Sugarhouse has hanging baskets of flowers as trademark). Now, we still have an eysore at the crossroads: the big yellow white elephant. Persuade the owner of that building to hire an architect for rebuilding or remodeling job which will see it transformed into a series of small shops (which small merchants can afford) with a Villiage Atmosphere' Look. (In my, mind the Village Atmosphere Look is old bricks and wood siding or shingles and - - not too lots of turn-poscute but somewhat cozy - are you still with me?) Perhaps other stores will follow along with the idea. Now we have two parks, a new series of small shops and somewhere a new and attractive sign. All we need now is the planting of trees in front of'-sto-res which will have either blossoms or beautiful leaves or both and a pledge from the service clubs that they will allot the care of these trees to different Scout groups from time to time (Scouts earn conservation badges for this, 24-ho- ur 24-ho- ur Coming NEW To Salt Lake Area Watch For The Announcement in next week's paper!
