In extemporaneous speaking will be Ann Peterson, Lynn Sampson, and Dave Rich. In humorous reading will be Kathryn Thurston, Terri Fisher, Janice Payne, and Tom Nibley. Those doing dramatic readings are Mari Tucker, Dawn Thurston, Barbara Bingham, and Karen Andersen. Early tomorrow morning when most of the world is still asleep, 27 members of the Speech Department will board a bus and wind their way to the Carbon Invitational Speech Tournament in Price. The students will be members of the debate and drama classes, under the direction of Mr. Kenneth Bowthorpe, and will compete contest for state in the honors. The competition will be in the fields of debate, legislative iorum, oration, extemporaneous speaking, humorus and dramatic readings. Members of the debate teams are Kick Gunn and Alan Wilkins, Top ball game in Region Four Sid Provo, rated this year as the "Team to Beat," boasts a league record thus far after their rout over Orem last Friday. Every one of their starters is a a scoring threat, especially Craig Boorman and Jim Rees. This was evidenced last year as Provo beat BY High in the regular league game on the Bulldog court. The teams met again in the state finals, this time on the Wildcat home court; and this time the Wildcats beat Provo 67-4- This game will be played on Wildcat court, and with a good night, the Wildcats will be in the game all the way. Five selections were presented by the Junior High Cadet Band and six by the Senior 11 gh Concert Band. MUSICIANS ARE now preparing for the Solo and Ensemble Festival for Instrumental Music to be held in American Fork, Feb. 17. Soloists and group ensembles will enter the Region 4 contest. Mr. Mathis stated that it had not yet been determined who will enter. "In the past, performance of groups from BY High has been comparatively good.
