High's Thespian Troupe presented the harvest ball themed "Southern Daze," Wednesday, November 22nd, in the Family Living Center. Decorations of colored lights and silhouettes typified the Old South m days. A new addition to the annual dance was the announcement of Mr. and Miss Thespis Steve Crow and Marie Tyler. Pat Stewart, Helen Free, Alan Rawlings, and John Webb were also chosen by the club to represent Thespis,-thfounder of all Thespian roupes, and representative of dramatic ideals. Bob Evans and his Combo pro. ided the music, while Phil Swen- son and John Webb entertained during the floor show with several familiar ballads. Cheryl Ann Doughty, Jill Eastmond, Mary Babcock, Peggy Crocket, Mary Nenson and Alisyn Webb prepare for concert. Steve Grow and Marie Tyler chosen Mr. and Miss Thespis. Annual Christmas Concert Changes Tradition Christmas isnt Christmas with- out carols. Carols Irom England, Poland, America, Germany. Woles and Russia; Burgundian and Basin- carols, Negro Spirituals, and carols from New England. llungaiy and Spain each adds its own peculiar charm to Christmas. Every country, every age, and every people has its own characteristic way of celebrating through its carols the miracle of the Divine Birth. the word carol Originally meant a dance. All through the Hebrew scriptures we are told of tlu- religious (estival dances per. formed as acts of worship. The transition from dance carols to singing carols performed in honor of Mary's Divine Son was long ago, but we today have inherited the wealth of ail countries and ages in their carols, Carols of tin- Magi, shepherd carols, carols of tlu' Nativity and Christ Child lullabies are all sung in honorof the bhthdav of our Lord. George Pierpont, Cheryl Ann Doughty and Alisyn Webb, chorus officers, report that 390 E, a eappella, some will be accompanied by the piano. A special the Burgunnumber dian carol, will be accompanied by a duet of flute and drum with Gina Grow and George Pierpont. Several small ensembles will be featured.
