On January 20, the junior varsity trounced the Juab Wasps with a score of 45 to 33. Having lost to Lehi and Pleasant Grove, the team now has four wins and two losses to its credit in league play. After three games the Wildcats moved from last place in their division to eighth and on up to fourth in the state. After the game with American Fork, B. Y. High was still tied for first place in this region. State class B standings are not as impressive at the present time as they were when the Wildcats clawed their way from the bottom of the cellar nearly to the top of the heap. Alpines scoring is almost as unpredictable as the outcome of the scores of the games. BY Tromps Lehi In B. Y. Highs second game of the season, the B. Y. Wildcats defeated the Lehi Pioneers with a score of 47 to 44. The first quarter made it look as though the game was swinging towards the Pioneers. However, a fast rally in the second quarter sparked by Bullock, Allen, and Hart, brought the halftime score to 21 for the Wildcats and 21 for the Pioneers. During halftime, both schools pep clubs marched, after which B. Y. Highs mascot, Willie, the Wildcat, performed and was the hit of the evening. It became evident that both teams had decided to make this a do or die affair. After 16 minutes B. Y. High came out as the victors; the final score being 47 for the Wildcats and 44 for the Lehi Pioneers. According to all the local sports writers, this was one of the major upsets of that week. worthwhile. On the trip, Judy Prestwich was heard to ask, Whats all that white stuff? Steve Ross Willy Escapes Excitement filled B. Y. Highs halls during the week of January 22, when Willy the Wildcat, mascot, escaped from the tree to which it was tied at Spencer Grows stables. On the trip we finally discovered the secret of Roy Hammonds charm. Its the cunning little curl in the middle of his forehead. We observed Shirley Burton and Nancy Oldroyd standing on the highest pillar at Geneva. It seems they heard a squeak in the machinery and thought it was a mouse. Faye Anderson was busy skipping puddles and moaning, Oh my new suede shoes! Mother will kill me! The traditional snowball fight took place between Gary Rose, Ray Gagon, Paul Redd, Kent Knudsen, Nathan Vest, and Sherm Anderson, and resulted in the making of Richard Wilson into a snowman. Willy was discovered missing on the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 21.
