High and getting to go to state. But there was hope again when Lehi came to our field a week later and B.Y. won by a score of 6 27-.- 0 The next week B.Y. traveled over to Springville where the Wildcats gave them a rough time. In the first half it looked like Springville was going to win for sure with the score . But in the last half B.Y. came fighting coming within one point of a tie. The score was Then October 15 the Wildcats did some more traveling, going over to American Fork. Several times during the game the Wildcats would come within several yards of a touchdown but time would run out, penalty, or not enough downs, but B.Y. came out ahead Just last week B.Y. came out ahead of Spanish Fork . This was the highest score in B.Y.s history. At the half time . B.Y. In had a large margin of the second half the second arid third teams were put in and carried the ball for two touchdowns, making the final score . Today the Wildcats are going down to Payson for the last of the scheduled season games. Athlete of the Month Title Goes To Outstanding Football Player Echoing the opinion of the B.Y. student body, Bob Bentley was officially named Athlete of the Month. Anyone who hs watched Bob play knows why he was chosen for this honor. Not only is he fast, agressive and skillful, but his pep and enthusiasm spark the whole team. Upon being notified he had been chosen, Bobs only Me???? Oh comment was, scrud!! Bentleys activities and abilities are not limited to sports. His enthusiastic leadership has shown . in his position class senior as and president, his friendly per-- s o n a 1 i t y won him the title of Preferred Man at B. Y. High last year. Aside from personality, the reason for that choice is obvious as his snappy black eyes, dark hair and good grooming hardly detract from his appearance. Born in El Paso, Texas, August 17, 1937, Bob has spent much of his life in Mexico where he got early experience in school leadership and sports. He was soph omore class vice president and lettered in several sports for his high school there. Since coming to B.Y. High, Bob has been an active member of the Lettermen and Spanish Clubs, a member of the B.Y. High Concert Chorus and vice president of the Band. Photography and hunting rank high among his hobbies. Although it is not known what he has shot with his camera this fall, it is reported that he brought in his deer. He plans to attend the Brigham Young University and his ambition to play trumpet for Stan Kenton is second only to fulfilling a mission for the LDS Church. B. Y. High Splits Games Pre-Seas- on The football season began Sept. 10, when B.Y. went to Millard and lost a game, The thrill of the preseason was when B.Y. sent North Sanpete home on Sept. 17 carrying a casket with the score inside of 43 to 0 in favor of ELY. The boys have been in there fighting for the Gray and Gold and Good Old B.Y. High. The school spirit has really been great this year and it is surely gratifying to the team to see such crowds come out and watch them play their well won, or well lost game, whichever it 63-6- 50-6- 63-6- may be. I hope that during basketball, baseball or track, that the school will stay behind the team one hundred per cent whether they win, lose, or draw. It is our team and it is our part to stick with them as it is their part to stick to the game. The Sophomore team has not had too much luck in their of games, due to the some of1 the Sophomore class. It always helps to have the support of your classmates when you are trying to bring home honors to the school. So, Sophomores, see if you cant put forth a little more effort to get out to the games in football and to the basketball season coming up. score indicates.
