The Wildcats were very successful in winning all of their regional games, but later when they went to State werent quite so successful. Richard Dixon, who won the Brigham Young Invitational Tennis Meet, lost in the second round at state to Rupple of Wasatch Academy. In the doubles division, Cecil Clark and Dave Wilkinson lost their first round to a racket teapi from Ephraim, Utah. Wilkinson and Clark were also victorious in the BYU Invitational. LeGrande Young, who tied for second place in pole vaulting in the BYU Invitational, sprained his ankle and was unable to take part in the state field and track events. n; May 20, 1953 Kat Tales by Ray Dawson Baseball has come to a final climax with our Wildcats copping the Southern Nebo Division title. Id the Cats had won their regional contest with the AF Cavemen they would have gone to the state play off scheduled to be held in Salt Lake City sometime after the close of school. Since the Forkers won the regional crown they will play the Bingham Miners in a semi-fina- l match, to determine one of the two teams that will play in the state tilt. Our ball club was unable to capture the crown this year, however we did make a great stride ahead by taking the Nebo Division crown. With more practice and hard work our squad will be qualified for a match with any team in the state. While watching the game with the Cavemen at Timp Park, many a prep baseball fan remarked about sophomore Dean Maibens pitching. Dban hurled three scoreless innings for the Cat nine but had to be relieved by Joe Allen in the eighth. Many congratulations are due our team, and lets take that state trophy next spring.
