Show March 12, 1952 Yld Cat Page Orchids For Team; Were Proud of You Well, here is the time when we've passed the half year mai k in school. The seniois hate to see the time ly bv Invause it means college and lots of hard work The tumors seem to be in a daze. They really dont know whether time has passed fast or slow Thev've just had fun To the sophomores it's just the lie ginning of lots of fun to come We've had some nice things happen to us fluring this past year, and weve also had some things happen that weren't so nice. But we'll all have to admit we wouldn t trade one moment of 1 it. And then we get around to basketball. Weve really come a long way since that first game over in Ilober. Then we were lust a little team and no one thought wre would tie too much of a threat. Oh, they said we were fair and might stand a chance. But this year we have proved to the world' what 13 boys can do by working together with a good purpose in mind. Whatre You Doing (y t At the Tournament In asking students what they plan to do at the tournament this year, we received many and varied answers. Here are the replies of some of the students to the question, What are you going to do at the tournament? You may get a chuckle out of them Tom Harris Think I should let you in on it? However, something you never get tired of hearing, like the tolling of a bell that signifies good news. In fact, it is good news, but what is even better is to know the names responsible for this news. That is besides on a basketball court, where our headline getters are know n only by their performing. So heres a chance to get to know or see a different side of B. Y. highs favorite sons. Dave Crowton, a shy and quiet senior--th- at is until .he hits the basketball court then, well, you know the rest. Standing 511 this three year letterman will take sports and a httle time out for uke playing as a hobby any day. Dix Davis; his beam hurdling shots are the highlight of many a game. He stands 6 feet, has light brown hair, and in his spare moments can usually be found on a gridiron or basketball court. Dee Wilcox Curley with the light browm hair and from the top lock of that hair theres 6TV of one smooth basketball player, maybe thats why basketball supplemented by baseball and track gets top billing as a hobby in this seniors book. Ed PLnegar, the head point-ge- t its A ter of the team, is an athlete who after basketball-lo- oks forward to tennis. Ed, a senior, is 62 and has dark brown hair. The lines and figures of class all-aroun- d appeal most to speaking. Darrell Bushnell, a blond hakred senior, who, after getting a late start, has proved his worth. This 62 lad takes pleasure in shocking inquisitive people by saying Yes, I was operated on. Would you care to see my incision? Joe Allen, a newcomer this year, who from his action on the basketball court seems to like it here. And as a oll cotton top, he is the only member of the Junior class who is worried about going before hes reached the age of 20. Dave Kimball, 59 junior who i very conscientious of his doings; especially in sports. In fact, geometry him, scholastically bald-heade- d its rumored that during the hours before a try- ing game while everybody else is worrying Dave will turn Rip Van Winkle and leave strict orders not to be awakened until the third quarter of the sophomore game. Ken (Hutch) Lindquist, a 61 V2 junior with brown kinky hair, used to sit by the hour watching Mel Hutchins practice until last spring, that is and now around those hours he sometimes feels a little lost. If you try right hard hes the quiet type you can get him to admit he has previous letters in football and baseball. Allen Canfield, a veteran of seven years at B. Y. high, has only one more to go before graduation. While here at B.Y. this 62 lad has compiled quite a name for himself and can be recognized most anywhere by his winning smile and crew-cu- t blond hair. Gary Browm, a 510 senior, who enjoys confusing his basketball opponents with his left handed tactics and brother, does it work. Gary is a strong believer in bulldogs haircuts, that is- and at what lengths he goes to express himself. Knight, a junior all 6 3 of him likes to relax by joining in a nice debate, especially with Dave Kimball as his An unruly mop of light partner. brown hair and a pair of size thirteens are characteristics that will give him away in any crowd. Gordon Whatcott, a 6 junior who is very recognizable by the freckles he sports around. He likes to keep the sophomore basketball players worried by telling them hes coming down and taking somebodys place on their squad. Dave MaClaren besides basketball he lives for the weekly gridiron wars of next fall. This 6 junior takes to athletic for relaxation anything and delights in stirring up his fellow students by wearing his fluorescent shirt to school. -- 1l7 3 |
