Unforgettable Theme of Sr. Hop The annual Senior QUI High School Feb lb. 1952 Kathy Redd Chosen Sweetheart of 52 went Ar-nolen- BY The speech meet with students from Ogden, was held on Friday, Feb. 8. The meet consisted of five teams from Ogden and six from B. Y. high. The teams who debated for B. Y. high were Sterling Loveland and Cathy Collard, affirmative; Wes Morrill and Dave Wilkinson, negative; Helen Norton and Ellen Keeler, Bob Oaks and Carmen Brandley, LaRee Allen and Joan Noel, Helen Bauer and Jacque Brandley, debated both negative and affirmative. Jr. Hi Frolicsome Frenchies Fling Fun The annual French Mardi Gras was held Friday, Feb. 8, at 8:30 This was held with a regular carnival atmosphere with Confetti and paper hats passed out at the door. Refreshments were served from booths on the stage under direction of George Lee. J. Paul Smith was circulation manager and saw that enough tickets were sold and that everyone knew NEWS FLASHES p.m. in 250 A. about it. A floor show was presented under the management of E)avid Wilkinson. They were B. Y. U. students from Washington, D. C. They presented some Spanish dances. Ruth Anderson was in charge of the decorations. 15 16 19 22 24 26 29 Sweetheart Ball Adds to Winter Socials Starting at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, in 250 A the Junior Highs Sweetheart Ball was held. Valentine was the theme and the site was decorated accordingly. Refreshments of punch and cookies were served and music was furnished by records. A very high percentage of the students attended the dance and if they stayed for the last waltz they left for home at 9:45 p.m. This gala affair was the third Jr. high dance this year 52 with some individual class parties livening things up in between dances. The Frosty Frolic was Elected by memlxms of the Notre Maison club, Kathy Redd will reign over the annual Sweetheart Ball tomorrow night starting at 9:00 in the Joseph Smith banquet hall. Carol Ann Reynolds and Helen Norton are her announced attendants They at the Friday assembly. Committees consist of Helen Bauer, chairman: Barbara Stump, refreshments: Doris Ilauker, decorations; Margaret Hayivard, floor show; and Joan Noel, pro-g- i ams. A Kiss to Build a Dream On is the theme of the dance. Decorations. refreshments and programs will work around the colors of varied blue and the theme. An orchestra will provide the music and an intermission program consists of various musical numbers. The queen and her attendants will again be honored at the dance when they will be presented by the club president, Jacque Brandley. Pictures of them and dancing couples will be taken. l A yearly event of the high school is the girls preference dance. All senior high girls are invited to attend. Faculty adviser for the Notre Maison club is Mrs. Poulson, home making teacher. The Sweetheart season started with the assembly today, under the direction of Jackie Webster, Helen Norton, Mary Lee Winkler and Sharron Webster. e e Debaters Host Ogden F. OR ANNUAL BALL ELECTI on as scheduled, Feb. Hop 2, in the Joseph Smith social hall. The plans and preparations were carefully worked out by the senior class members. Music was furnished by Bob Evans orchestra. Intermission program of Charteston dance, accordion solo and male trio came from students of Brigham Young University. Orange programs with black background of a couple dancing were filled out during the evening. Refreshments of and cookies with candy punch stick favors added to the fun. The assembly held at 11 a.m. in College Hall, was a skit about some girls who were waiting for a date to the Hop. The boys, deciding to share their charms with the girls, call them and they go to the dance. The were shown dancing, then couples informsang ally to the audience. Jerry Weight, president and chairman of the Hop, was assisted by Kent Hendrickson, vice president; Joan Noel, secretary-treasurer- ; and Mahon Ashcraft, social chairman. Other committee chairmen were Barbara Woolsey, Snow, Nena Flo Law, Jean Jorgenson, Louise Black-ham- , and Dallyne Brown. A. held January 7, and a mat dance earlier in the year. Both the frolic and mat affair were held in 250 A, and decorations of snowmen and Christmas trees gave the Frolic a typical winter atmosphere, while the mat dance went without props. Music for both dances sounded forth from transcribed sources. High school concert band under the direction of Far-re- l Madsen will take their big trip of the year on March 6 and 7. The band wall leave Provo at 4 a.m. on March 6 and play at 9 a.m. in Fillmore. The next stop semi-forma- Clinic to Open Tuesday An immunization clinic will be held at B.Y. high school, beginning Tues., Feb. 19 at 1:00 oclock under the direction of the Provo City Health Division and the Board of Education. All age groups will be able to participate in the immunization program, which consists of typhoid, small pope, and tetanus. Boosters will be given for typhoid and tetnus at a small service charge. A vaccination shot for small pox should be taken if anyone has not been successfully vaccinated within the past five years. Adults desiring the immunization will be charged the minimum fee.
