Y. high could stop the Cavemen from American Fork, as they rolled up the points against their old rivals. The Cavemen, led by Max Pierce and Van Burgess, moved halftime lead. In the first half, however, American Fork was hard pressed by the Yers, with Collins hitting the hoop. Wildcats Drop Lincoln B.Y. High looked like they were state bound as they gave Lincolns vaunted Tigers a lesson in basketball to the tune of a whipping in the Lincoln gym January 5. The Wildcats completely outplayed Lilcoln. Their passing 43-2- 7 was sharp, they had drive, spirit, and were hitting the hoop regularly. Also their defense was beautiful. Big Stan Collins hit five fielders and four for five from the free throw line to lead the Cats. Dave Crowton added another 11 points. All in all it was a veyy successful loop opener for B. Y. High. B.Y. High Slaps Pleasant Grove Vikings With lanky Stan Collins pouring in 20 points, B. Y. Highs biting Wildcats gave Pleasant Grove their fourth straight licking January 26. In so doing they also copped a tie for second place. The Wildcats shooting was uncanny and work on both boards something to behold. They also and even frequently stole passes dribbled the ball out of the hapless Vikings hands. Ab Christensen added twelve points and a beautiful floor game to the Wildcat cause. Y. high has piled up 557 points in fourteen games this Collins has scored 226 year. 93 field goals and 40 out on points of 60 free throws for a 16.2 aver- age. Ab Christensen is next with 33 out of fielders and 24 35 tries for a 6.4 average in 14 games. Y. Highs Born in Orderville, located in southern Utah, he and his family later settled down in Springville. He then moved to Provo and went to the fifth grade at grade school. Later he attended the B. Y. training school and has but one year of high Tim-panogo- s school left Ab was picked because of his terrific playin gon the hardwood. Ab is a guard, has plenty of height, 6 foot 1 inch to be exact, so that he gets his share of the rebounds. He has a fine set shot from outside, is a fine defensive player, and is a great hustler. He also wa main string end on the football team and was elected honorary captain of the football team. In addition to earning a letter in football and basketball this year, he received a letter in baseball last year making him a two-yea- r letter man. He was elected the Lettermens club as best by basketball player, All these qualities and achievements add up to make Ab Christensen a solid choice for athlete of the month at B. Y.
