Show Page Four THE YLDCAT Friday, January 26, 1945 Lehi Noses Out BY High 27-2- 6 Bad luck rode the tail of the Blue and White clad Wildcats in their opening game of the season with Lehi. We finished on the short end of the score despite a last minute rally that missed by a single said 27-2- 6 point. The scoreboard and 30 seconds to go when the buzzer sounded ending the game. The game was of course protested to the board of managers to try to have it replayed, but our motion was overruled. We have of course been expecting them to arrive any day but up until two minutes before we bgan to Y dress we didnt know they were here. New warm up suits have also been ordered and should be here before the season is over. Dspite our loss to Provo last Friday it is still possible (and probable) that we will go to the tournament come the middle of March. However, we can only lose one more game or we will be out of the monev. Its a shame that in every meeting of Provo and BY high the referees has just a slight tendency to favor the forMake no mistake, were not blaming the loss of the mergame on the referees, but it would be a change to see that classic game of the winter season officiated fair and square for once. The time-batter- ed Womens gym will see plenty of ac- tion during the next few weeks, since the University as well as the high school will be playing some mighty tough opponents there between now and the first of March. The Utah-BYgame tonight will be one that no basketball fan will want to miss. Utah boasts a great squad, including Arnold Ferrin, plus Fred Shefield and three or four other outstanding high school stars. U all-Ameri- f can REGION STANDING $ Wildcats Edge Out Touted Cavemen For 25-2- 4 Win The fighting Wildcats really earned their title of Giant Killers last Friday by edging out a highly touted Caveman crew from American Fork, 24 to 25. It was their night to get the breaks and they made the most of them. The Y boys broke into an eairy first quarter lead, but in the t X I sec- ond quarter it was gradually cut down to one point by half time. The American Fork boys were having considerable trouble hitting their own baskets, despite their excellent bankboard work. The third period was very close with neither team being able to garner enough points to pull out in head a great deal.
