LLOYD RILEY In 1977 he became the local Rotary historian, which position he held until 1980. The Rotary Club recognizes that Riley, aided by his wife Claudine, and his two daughters and three sons, has been of invaluable service to the community and to the aims and objectives of the Bountiful Rotary Club. 1970. Ten years later, in 1980, he received the mayors Outstanding Citizen Award which is given for 50 7 and served three terms in Bountiful voted to start its own municipal power business. Rileys career did not stop there. He continued in politics by being elected to the state senate in 1939 and winning the election for mayor of Bountiful the next year. In addition to his elective offices, he also served on the power commission and chaired the Davis County Planning Board. He also was a member of the State Republican Central Committee, and the secretary of the state convention. He was honored for his services by the Sertoma Club, which awarded him the Service to Mankind Award plaque in r IfVfl U$ ' that post. Riley has been a member of the Bountiful Rotary Club since 1949. Besides has also served on diverse committees and special assignments within the club. He was secretary of the club and in 1959-6- 0 he served as president. Topic on Parenting Continues The sixth FARMINGTON of the Parenting in the 80s series will address Living Happily with. Teenagers: Using the Posi- tive Approach. It is planned for Wednesday, March 7 at Farmington Junior High School, 160 S. 200 W., Farmington at 7:30 p.m. Seeing a youngster mature and gain independence throughout the adolescent years can be a sat- isfying time for parents. These m same years can also bring unique m. problems into the family and the positive approach can help diffi-- r cult situations materialize into Z growing experiences. Making the most of the posi- tive approach will be discussed by Ann Benson, speaker for the evening. As mother of three sons ranging in ages from 10 to 17, 'Mrs. Benson comes well prepared to address the topic. Her advice will be based upon practical ex- perience. Her positive approach to parenting is reflected in her warm and humorous manner. Mrs. Benson also brings with her much professional experience in working with families and young people. She holds a bachelors degree from the Texas Womans University and is currently enrolled in the University of Utah graduate school of social work. She currently Serves as Social Service Coordinator for the Davis School Districts Head Start ' program. ; Her. professional experience included working with juvenile court, LDS Social Services, and Child Welfare Services, both in adoption and foster care. The Parenting in the 80s series is by the Davis School Districts Parent Education Resource Center and the Region III PTA The next activity in the series is planned for Wednesday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. At that time Dr. Jerry Braza, Ph.D. will speak on Finding Your Loving Center: Barriers Which Block Loving Self and Others.
