Stahle and in Utah by Gov. Scott M. Matheson. Boy Scouts. The Bountiful Rotary Club began the tradition of honoring boys who become Eagle Scouts with a Rotary Eagle Scout Neckerchief in 1950. Since that time about 2,500 local boys have received the after blue kerchief emblazoned in gold with the Eagle Scout emblem. Several boys are singled out for this honor on the first Thursday of each month, in a celebration during the Rotary meetings at Servus Drug Store in Bountimuch-soug- The week has been set aside to honor the fastest growing young womens organization in America, the United States Jaycee Women. ht ful. This celebration, however, was particularly festive. Todd Quinn, 13, son of Joan and Ed Quinn of Bountiful, received the cloth as had his eight brothers. Quinn earned 29 merit badges and painted the posts of Oak Hill Elementary School. He also filled all the ditches on the schools sports field. Rotarian Del Holbrook introduced Quinn and his family to the assembled Rotary Club as an unusual family. He pointed out that this family is noted for doing things together and being helpful to Bountiful society. Being a Boy Scout is only one of the ways in which each of the nine Quinn sons has tried to help his community, said Holbrook. Quinns achievement was further noted by the guest speaker of the evening, Boyd Ivey. In his speech, Ivey recalled that Quinn had now joined the ranks of such men as Neil Armstrong, the astronaut. Out of the Eagles ranks in America have come generals, astronauts, actors, and other great men, said Ivey. The spirit of the Eagle stands for patriotism, honor, duty and friendship. Dr. Nadeem Muna, chairman of the Rotary Eagle Scout Project, explained that the celebration of an achievement such as Todds by the Rotary Club is meant to stimulate boys to become good American citizens. We want them to know that somebody appreciates their efforts, said Dr. Muna. After all, we Rotarians feel that the Eagle Scout objectives are like those of the Rotary Club.
