Before that area became a part of Layton and wets still within the East Layton City boundaries, the developers and the East Layton City Council Review Correspondent LAYTON A good deed ev- ery day may be the ideal for a Scout but Michael Hamilton, a i boy from Layton, carried his Scout spirit one step farther when he saved the life of a friend. Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hamilton of Layton, and is an eighth grade student at Central Davis Junior High. Michael and his friend Bret Cutler were on a winter camp-ou- t at Fort Buena Ventura, near the Weber River several weeks ago when the boys decided to do some checking on some trees that Bret had planted as a part of his Eagle Scout project. They broke pieces of ice off and watched them float downstream in the river without realizing the danger. Bret stomped on one piece of ice that broke loose with such speed that it split between his legs and caused him to fall into the freezing waters. He yelled for me to help him and I told him not to panic, recalled Michael. Bret was fully clothed in winter clothing which became heavy with water immediately. I reached down and grabbed him and pulled him right up on his feet onto the ice, said Michael, quite a feat considering the weight of Bret and his soaking wet clothes and the speed of the current which was pulling Bret away from the remaining ice. The two boys made their way back to camp in temperatures where Michaels father, who is his Scoutmaster, agreed that the developers The Layton City Council; maintained the agreement and the $300 will be collected from builders at the time the building permits are issued and forwarded to the developers annually within a five year time span. ; COMPANYS COMING...
