Owners, agents, occupants or lessees whose properties face on municipal sidewalks and strips between streets and sidewalks shall be responsible for keeping those sidewalks and strips free of litter. Price city will conduct its fall clean-u- p through Monday, Oct. 15. FALL ut 3. HISTORICAL CALENDARS The Chamber of Commerce has past issues of the Carbon County historical calendars from the years 1980 through 1989 for sale. The calendars can be obtained from the chamber office in the Price municipal building. CONCERNED RETIRED MINERS OF DISTRICT 22, UMWA will meet at the Karl Petersen Senior Citizens Center on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. Representatives who attended the 50th International UMWA Constitutional Convention will be present at the meeting to report of what was accomplished at the convention. All members are urged to attend this meeting. Wives and widows of retired miners are also invited. THE SOUTHEASTERN UTAH HEALTH DEPARTMENT will conduct a cholesterol screening Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the CEU ballroom from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The screening will include a test for total cholesterol level, cholesterolsaturated fat education and a blood pressure reading. No fasting is necessary. An influenza immunization will also be available. There is a charge. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will hold a luncheon Oct. the Room at noon. Martinez on Oct. 15 in Price. Martinez is the department service officer for the DAV and has been accredited by the VA to accept and present claims. The claims may involve requests for compensation, pension, medical treatment, VA home loan defaults and education. CEU PREHISTORIC MUSEUM Lanford on Oct. 12, 7 p.m., in room 207 at the Price City Hall. Lanford will lecture on "Protohistoric Buffalo Robes from Utah." His focus will be on buffalo robes found in Carbon and Emery counties, some of which are on display in the CEU Prehistoric Museum. This lecture is free and open to the public. Mary Vigor conducted the meeting and read some correspondence the auxiliary received. One letter urged members to wear a red ribbon during the week of Oct. 8 to say no to drugs. The auxiliary supports the campaign against drugs, and the members will wear the ribbons. The next meeting will be Oct. 25 at the pie shop. United Way starts campaign October has been designated as campaign month for United Way of Carbon and Emery counties. The local funcampaign is a draising effort timed to coincide with the National United Way Campaign. The money raised in Carbon and Emery County will remain in the community and be used to help support vital human service programs and once-a-ye- ar agencies locally. Member agencies provide services, to the community and help to people in need every day. Despite its national character, each United Way chapter is locally controlled by a volunteer board. Members of the community make up the allocation committee and the board of directors.. Anyone interested in how United Way functions may become ' involved. The goal 1 1 set for the 1990 campaign is $25,000. The money is raised through corporate gifts, payroll deduce tions and individual can meet gifts. Companies their responsibilities to the communitys critical needs through a single campaign held annually at the work one-tim- place. . v.
