Show supervisors MAKE TRIP THRU WEST after making a visit to the far western part of box bos elder county one is easily convinced that there Is truth in the statement that box elder county Is five times the size of the state ot of rhode island this Is the decision of the four school supervisors ot of the box elder county schools who have just return returned ad from a visit to the schools in the grouse creek country mr air glenn supervisor ot of agriculture and nature study mr air whitaker supervisor ot of music bliss brown supervisor of primary grade worn woric alss miner miller supervisor of art and sewing made the visit they arrived at grouse creek on st patricks day and found the people celebrating the L D S relief societies were organized 70 years ago on the same date they found the schools in very favorable condition and a most axce excellent ilent community spirit prevailing among the people from the enthusiasm manifested manit sted in the schools we can expect a 12 or IS 15 live students in from grouse creek to the high school next year the supervisors attended a dancing party with the people at grouse creek on oil tuesday night and got acquainted with many patrons of the schoot school wednesday was spent in visiting the schools at grouse creek and etna there thera is a force of three teachers and seventy five pupils comfortably located la in a modern school house the building i is s built of native greyish grayish blue sandstone and is modern from top to bottom the schools at both places were found tot belia ter y good condition with the teachers having a good progressive attitude tor for the school worle ne W ml edby night prof wata ker held a band practice with the band boys and gave them a few good live lessons on baud band work at a meeting was held in the beautiful little meeting house with the parents of the school children the upper grade school children furnished the music for the evening evenin gm mr beech the principal also sang a solo entitled mother alother dear mr air glenn gave a talk on the relationship of the home to the school and the relationship of the supervisors to our own present school sy sten stero mr whitaker gave a talk on the value of music in the school and its ditc relationship to the home the people of grouse creek are to be congratulated on the neat little meeting house bouse which hs icen een built by I 1 them the notable tiling thing about their meeting house is the fact that it Is built front from beautiful colored grea rpy is blue blue sandstone which was taken out of the hole that was excavate right out of 0 the hole that was was excavated for the basement of the building spring was prevailing in its fullest bloom and there was evidence of prosperity on every hand the people all seemed to be very optimistic over the countes coun tys future there is much valuable land in that country that Is as yet undeveloped and the land buyer and could do worse than to direct their attentions to grouse creek there are excellent opportunities there for the young man the country Is admirably adapted to the raising of livestock alfalfa and timothy grow abundantly and there Is great range opportunities ni in the hills to the north and west at the present price of cattle no one e can n deny the fact that the livestock 1 industry n Is without doubt the most moat promising of any of the lines of agriculture that are arc receiving so much popular attention at the present time calves from eight to t twelve weve months old were selling at figures of from 30 to 35 per head with atje 1 ae possibilities of the future and the store of resources the people oi of creek have they have reason to be hopeful of tho future |
