Show TEARS OF FERING ENDS on friday morning of 0 last week mrs airs alice N rosenbaum chosed closed her eyes in that final sleep and went ent to the rest she has und prayed tor lor for many years past for sixteen years she had been a sufferer with palsy and so violent did the trouble become in later years that she all but shook to pieces and her condition was pitiable that death was a sweet release to her none who were familiar with her condition will deny and when her death was announced many a heart breathed a fervent thank god alice rosenbaum was the daughter ot of the late alexander of salt lake city and was born at nauvoo ill may 1841 her father enjoyed the distinction of being the first jew to embrace the gospel of 0 jesus christ as taught by the latter day saints and he with his wife was a staunch member 0 ot t the church at the time of the birth of the subject of this sketch the family were driven from nauvoo with the rest of the inhabitants after the prophet propst and patriarch had been slain by the mob at carthage and they endured the hardships of that severe winter as they fled over the ice from their enemy in 1848 the family journeyed to utah and located in in salt lake city alice became the wife of morris D ro rosenbaum denbaum on april 2nd and 1858 and lived a few years thereafter aith ith her husband at salt lake city they later removed to this city where her husband long since aiice deceased conducted a a mercantile institution and later was manager of the coop co op this city has been the family home ever since thirteen children were brought into the world by mrs airs rosenbaum seven of whom preceded her to the other life of the remaining six there are three sons david of this city andy of los angeles morris of legrande oregon and three daughters mrs joseph tipples of bear L La keIrs walt and mrs airs J V faer facer of lB cily mrs airs rosenbaum was a true woman in every sense of the word kind hearted cheerful energetic and having a lovo love for humanity in general she very naturally endeared herself to all with whom she became acquainted quain ted in the church she gave her best efforts being a relief society worker all during her married life until her affliction prevented further activity and she has blessed many an aching heart in time of trouble by her kind consideration and gentle administration beautiful funeral services were held in the first ward chapel monday afternoon beginning at I 1 were paid to her character by wm win horsley R L fishburn sr bishop T H blackburn john D peters bishop C W nibley of salt lake city who was her brother in law and bishop G W watkins the musical numbers rendered by the choir were the hymns sister thou was mild adi lovely resting now and 0 my father between speakers victor E madsen sang 1 I know that my aly redeemer lives the prayers were offered by bishop D P burt and elder N J valentine there was a wealth of floral emblems the pall pali bearers were the three sons two brothers and a grand son of the deceased quite a number of relatives from out of town were pr present es at the services 0 |
