During the month of June 1979, declared to be Burglary Prevention Month by Mayor Lewis G. Shields, the local police department will launch a special campaign to provide citizens with their homes for vacation trips and weekend outings. By learning and practicing a few simple home protection hints, residents can keep their homes from falling victim to a burglary, he said. We reassure the parents that their diabetic child can eat most anything except those foods that are concentrated with sugar, such as jams, jellies, syrups, candy, icings, punch and soft drinks. Austrian Scotch DIABETIC DIETS are planned around the basic four food groups which are milk, meat, breads, and cereals, fruits and vegetables, plus the fat choices. A well balanced diet centered around the basic four food groups would be very appropriate for the entire family. In addition to following a well balanced diet, the diabetic meal plan should provide an even distribution of calories and carbohydrates to help regulate the blood sugar throughout Red FO FiilCES Large Selection Beautiful Trees 2453 E. It is important to know how much, where, and when the diabetic eats so the meal plan can be patterned as closely as possible to their normal growth and development, but not an excess. Diabetics and their families learn about portion sizes to provide the right amount of calories. AT PRIMARY Childrens Medical Center we use the Food and You diet plan. This is a choice system, which offers increased flexibility and variety to the diabetics meal plan. The choices consist of: one cup whole milk, equal to one milk choice (160 calories; one ounce of meat, equal to one meat choice (73 calories); one slice of bread, equal to one bread choice (68 calories). One small apple equal to one fruit choice (68 calories); 2 cup corn equal to one vegetable choice (68 calories); and one teaspoon butter, equal to one fat choice (45 calories). MDUL , A simple, but effective means of having light in your home every evening, is by auconnecting a Time-A- ll tomatic timing device to one or two lamps. Such a timer will turn a lamp on early in the evening, then turn it off several hours later. With lights turning on and off during the evening hours, it will give the appearance someone is home and may avert a possible burglary attempt! Foods For Diabetics PINE 200 no one is home. Each meal plan will provide a specific number of choices per meal, depending on the total amount of calories needed. After the diabetics and their families learn about portion sizes, they begin to plan menus to be used at home. Most families wonder if their diabetic children will be able to have school lunch. We encourage participation in the school lunch program whenever possible. HOWEVER. THE families need to ask the school for a copy of the lunch menu so the diets can be planned ahead of time. Special attention needs to be given to holidays and parties so the diabetic will be able to participate and feel they are a part of the program. Hopefully, foods will be available for them to include in their diet as part of a snack or meal, depending on the time. It is important that the diabetic child be considered as a child first and a diabetic second. The American Legion Post takes pride each Memorial Day in placing Miniature American Flags on the Veterans graves in the Kaysville City Cemetery. THIS IS a tremendous task, but a very rewarding one, and one they enjoy doing in remembrance of the men who gave their lives for freedom and for our country. Each year however, some graves they are not aware of are missed. They regret not knowing about them.
