These words came from a song sung at the dedication of the chapel at the Central Utah Correctional Facility (CUCF) at Gunnison by 35 inmates of the facility. Inmates and guests numbering approximately 300 from Sanpete County attended the dedication on September 6th. The new chapel was funded through donations from members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Leaders from several local denominations took part in the dedication, including Pastor Jay Swanson of the South Sanpete Baptist Church, Father Michael R. Sciumbato (pronounced shum ba to) of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Stake President Irvin R. Mathews of the LDS Gunnison Utah Stake, and Bishop Darrell Warren of the LDS Gunnison 4th Ward. Other blue ribbon winners included Thea Terry of Milbum, and Kimmi Swensen of Moroni for the Horse Judging Contest. Jessica Brown of Axtell won a blue ribbon for Public Speaking. Other participation included Thea Terrys Horse Illustrated Talk, Tiffany Marrelis (Centerfield) Public Speaking talk, and Matthew Walkers (Spring City) Horse Judging. Earlier this year, a Sanpete also won first place County in the state for Wildlife Judging. The team, who won a national competition trip to San Antonio, included Eric Sorensen, Kris Sorensen, Robert Sorensen, and Zachary Sorensen, all of whom are er from Mayfield. Elder Banks offered encouraging words from three parables in Luke 15; the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son. Prognosis is good for Manti High football player injured in game v A Manti High School football player was injured Friday afternoon resulting in a hospital stay at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. Marc Brown, son of Phil and Brenda Brown of Manti, came running off the field after a third quarter play, apparently in pain. Marc collapsed, face down and with some sensation gone in his lower body, just as he reached the sideline.
