The merger between Zions Bancorporation and First Security Corp. will mean a name change for the Zions Bank branches to First Security Bank, but Zions -- the smaller bank is actually acquiring First Security. Zions stock has been running higher on the stock market, and First Securitys stock has been sagging, says local branch manager Ryan Anderson. Reports coming out of Wall Street shows that current First Security shareholders will receive a .442 share of the new First Security stock. Zions shareholders will receive one share in the new company for each share they currently hold. Over the next year, the results of the surprise Sunday announcement will not likely impact the local communities in Sanpete County. The biggest change will be the name change on the Zions Bank branches. Letting go of that name didn't appear to be a concession for Harris Simmons, Zions Bancorporation CEO.
