But there is a bigger concern than the coming Y2K. If Americans do nothing to prevent it, the Panama Canal w ill pass from our hands at the close of this year into the hands of the Chinese Communists. This has been a target of Communist conquest since the Bolshevik Revolution. Most Americans do not know that Russia, China and Cuba are already positioned We invite Letters to the Editor from our readers Letters must be signed, in good taste, and limited to 500 words We reserve the nght to edit letters to meet space requirements. Need Noyes Building pix To the Editor: Life is always changing. As an institute of higher education, we have experienced a great deal of change in the 111 ears we have been servicing the state. Our numbers have grown immensely, and our curriculum has changed as well. We had 121 students registered in the fall of 1888, and this year we have approximately 2,500 students. That same year we had two instructors, and our numbers have now grown to 221 faculty members. In the beginning days, students could choose to take TheHis- ology, Reading, Orthography, tory, Grammar, Composition, Arithmetic, Geography, Penmanship, Bookkeeping, Ladies Work, or Danish Drawing. Today, students have a w ide variety and can take anything from Public Speak- ing to Marketing to Human Anatomy to Computer Programming. Change definitely has hap- pened, but we have a deep sense of pride when we talk about the history' of our College. An important part of our history is the Noyes Building. This beautiful edifice housed all of the services available at Snow College back in the early 1900s, and it is currently being restored. We are planning several large events in conjunction with the rededication of our Noyes Building, and we need your help. am looking for any current I and 1900ish information you may have about Snow College, Sanpete County, Ephraim, andor our surrounding towns.
